Let’s Tour the Course with our Golf Professional Robert Richards

Watch a video of the course here: hi-res - lo-res

Hole 1
An ideal short Par 4 to get the round started on a positive note. The Driver not needed for the longer hitters. Watch out if the flag is on the left hand top tier! Treacherous!
Hole 2
Simply a monster. The second shot always longer than it appears. Two long shots required to an elevated green with subtle slopes. Par is a good score.
Hole 3
The longest on the course. A true Par 5 with a narrowing fairway as you approach the green. Look out for the small pond on the left 100 metres from the green. The tiered green requires a correct length approach.
Hole 4
Bunkers everywhere. A well placed tee shot required to avoid the left hand side fairway bunkers or running into the trees on the right off the tilting fairway. A great green design guarded by a deep bunker on the left front.
Hole 5
A tight boundary fence and bunkers on the left protect an enormously long green. Par 3 a good score … three putts are common.
Hole 6
The toughest hole on the course beautifully set along the Brookvale Creek that encroaches on the fairway as you near the green. A big sloping green protected by a pot bunker on the front left hand side.
Hole 7
A very short par 4 for the members or longish par 3 for social players. Position your tee or approach shot to the left of the big tree that guards the entrance to the green. Don’t get too excited if you make birdie!
Hole 8
A long and tough Par 3 that demands a long and straight tee shot generally bouncing onto a wide but shallow green. Par is pretty good on this hole.
Hole 9
Here’s a one lane highway! A narrow fairway protected by trees and more trees. A small green with two devilish bunkers. Miss them or par may blow out the window.
Hole 10
Strategy comes to the fore on this short Par 5. The cross fairway Manly creek lies 200 metres from the tee, so play short. The second shot is played to an upslope and then to the elevated green on top of the only hill on the course. Talk about a sloping green… outrageous flag positions turn this into a monster.
Hole 11
Teeing off from the hill to a small undulating landing area makes this tee shot difficult. Also avoid the trees on the right at all costs. Now the fun begins playing across the irrigation pond to a tiny green with it subtle slopes perched just over the hazard. Take par and move to the next hole!
Hole 12
The easiest hole on the course. A big generous green gives everybody a superb chance at par or better. Even our General Manager can par this hole!
Hole 13
A fantastic looking hole from the tee with its wide open fairway. The Brookvale Creek swallows up any errant shots to the left of the fairway and shots to the right get caught up in the trees making the approach shots a challenge. Well placed bunkers and the grove of trees behind the big flat green finish off a brilliant Par 4.
Hole 14
The newest hole on the course. Looks simple… wait until you try and work out the hills and hollows on the green. You should still get away with a par.
Hole 15
Decision time! The Manly Creek crosses the fairway 190 metres from the back tees so most lay up before the creek. If you take the creek on let’s hope you can move the ball from the right around the left hand dogleg. Good shots are rewarded… bad shots, start adding up.
Hole 16
The most picturesque on the course. A narrow fairway with large eucalypt trees encroaching on the right of the fairway make the driver from the tee a risk. A superb green with deep bunkers and the creek behind make you work for your score.
Hole 17
A great hole from all tees with medium to long irons required (or that favourite rescue club) to an elevated sloping green. The ‘valley of sin’ on the left and pot bunker on the right make this a true test. Smile when you get your Par 3.
Hole 18
A big dogleg left Par 4 is a top finishing hole. The tee shot over the Manly Creek sets you up for a long shot to the green with its bunkers left and right and trouble behind the green. Can bring you back for your next game or turn into a nightmare if you have trouble with the hazards and sloping green.
